Marketing & Communications Specialist Job Description
Reports to: Executive Director
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt, Part-Time, 35hours/week
Wage: $23/hr
Position Summary: We are looking to employ a communications specialist to be a strategic
thinker with meticulous attention to detail, working well under pressure, meeting deadlines,
with excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to multitask and adapt
in a fast-paced environment.
To ensure success, the communications specialists should be
innovative, organized, and self-motivated with a keen interest in driving strategic messages
to key role-players including members, patrons, and partners.
The main responsibility will be event and program sales as well as presenting the “story” of
the MAC to engage members, visitors, donors, and patrons while protecting its brand and
following the mission, vision and goals of the organization. The role of Marketing &
Communications Specialist works with the Executive Director to strategize sales and build
awareness while promoting our events, programming, and brand to the public, He/She/They
will create all graphic materials, photography and video content, manage the website, write
press releases, oversee email communication and social media platforms, build content for
blogs, newsletters, and columns with the guidance of the ED. They will have accessibility to
volunteers and interns for assistance as needed.
Personal Skills: An energetic, organized, friendly and personable individual who has the
interest and passion for the arts, talent for writing that is as informative as it is creative and
engaging for this unique, hi-functioning and socially impactful organization, to advocate
public awareness and aid in its growth. Physical abilities include lifting up to 50lbs, climbing
stairs and ladders.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Maintain and protect brand identity
Create Strategic Marketing Plan and annual/monthly updates
● Design ad campaigns for events and programs
Write internal and external communications including:
● press releases
● event content for website
● weekly emails (*2x regularly)
● Interviews with patrons, committee chairs, board members, etc. for content
● potential blog or column subject matter or research
Create, update and organize distribution of all primary organization and event
graphics, for:
● annual brochure
● event cards
● flyers/posters
● Resize for all other uses: social media, AudienceView, and website
Maintain MailChimp platform; increase email subscribers
Manage website, online photo gallery, and *website calendar (*separate platform)
Maintain social media patron relations
Create, direct, and oversee photo and video content shoots for FB/IG stories
Collaborate on experiential marketing experience outreach ideas
Oversee and provide content for all social media platforms
Expand audience reach, engagement, and attendance
Evaluate insights and data provided by social media platforms
Assist in event planning and fundraising when needed
Attend events for creation of shared content: pictures, interviews, video
Perform on-camera and audio interviews, if appropriate
Manage marketing interns, volunteers, and vendors
Research competitors, services, and demographic info
Evaluate insights and data provided by social media platforms and website
Update Media List
Attend workshops, lectures, and conferences when appropriate
Attend BOD and community meetings as requested
