Pam's Corner: November

Happy November!

Our 1st ever #ChamberWeek has come and gone but will go down in the Chamber's history as a successful opportunity to celebrate our members, gain some knowledge, and network like crazy.

If you were among the many who attended any or all of the week's events, you will no doubt understand what I mean. We began the week with a packed "Chamber for the Membership Appreciation Breakfast" where Mayor Blake and Senator Maroney recognized the contributions of the Chamber to our community. And much appreciation to Cracker Barrel for a scrumptious start with warm biscuits, scrambled eggs, and a hash-brown casserole that is still being talked about.

There was an incredible energy in the room and it seemed to set the tone for the rest of the week, as we found that our scheduled lunch-and-learns required "overflow" seating. Each presenter—Score, Jocelyn Murray, Tanya Wallace, and Dewey Forbes—provided relevant take-aways, with members hungry for the Chamber to schedule more. However, SUBWAY made sure that they did not leave hungry for food by providing great wraps and mini-sliders.

Our evenings were filled with out-of-the-box networking events. The first ever collaboration with our affiliate the Network of Executive Women found us at bin100 sharing stories, food, and drink with owner Elena Fusco as we were treated to speaker Carolyn Finch, who shared her professional life as a woman in business over the last 50 years. We look forward to future collaborations with the group. But wait, there is more (insert smile).

On Wednesday a new flair was added to our monthly "Business After Hours" held at Milford Point Brewing. What an evening! Chris Willett and Jerry Candido have a winner with the décor, craft beer, and welcoming atmosphere. The event was enhanced by POP's Restaurant, who provided a nice complement of food for craft-beer tasting.

Finally, we closed the week by joining the City of Milford, Milford Photo, and Aced My Interview owner, Dan Thornberg, in providing our second LinkedIn event that gave attendees a fresh photo and a consult on their current LinkedIn page.

I want to personally extend my appreciation to Makayla Silva, our Marketing & Communication Coordinator, for bringing the "Chamber Week" concept to me and then taking the lead and making it so successful.

As always our door is open, stop in for a visit,

Pam
