Milford, CT April 11, 2022 - The Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce and the West Haven Chamber of Commerce have announced that effective immediately, the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce will represent the West Haven Business community. The agreement, approved by both chamber boards, was finalized on Friday, April 08, 2022.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been a trend around the nation for chambers to become more innovative and sustainable by aligning with other chambers and business organizations. Strategically, this agreement made sense as both organizations have a similar vision.
"We now will serve a much broader and diverse business community through advocacy, business and economic development, education and leadership," said Michael Moses, President of the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce. "We look forward to welcoming West Haven based businesses and providing them the many opportunities we have to offer."
A new West Haven advisory committee will be formed to focus on issues specifically pertaining to the West Haven business community and to plan special events.
The partnership expands the reach and influence of both business communities throughout the region.
"This is a win-win for both of our organizations," Moses said. "We have always been a strong organization, with a mission of helping local businesses and the community succeed, so now we will be able to do that on a larger scale. Our partnership will help ensure that- together- we can keep the communities in this vibrant region a wonderful place to live, work and play."
The Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce is a 501C-6 non-profit membership organization comprised of over 400 businesses, municipalities, civic organizations, educational institutions, and individuals. It advocates for the business community and supports economic development initiatives.
"This coming together makes sense on a lot of different levels," said Christine Gonillo, board chair of the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce. "I feel both of our missions are aligned, and we share the same values. It will also give us some more critical mass to expand and evolve our organization to better benefit all members and community."
