Day of:

Our Chamber staff will be on site with ribbon, scissors and a camera to capture your historic occasion. A staff person will also facilitate the entire ceremony for you, including introductions to VIPs and other Chamber members.

After:

Photos of the event will be shared on the Chamber's social media, and will be added to the Member News section on our website. The best photos can be made available to you for your own marketing as well.

Prepare for Your Event:

1. Contact the Chamber to secure your date. Book at least two months in advance!

  • Weekdays are strongly recommended as staff coverage and the Mayor or other digniaties cannot be guaranteed on a weekend
  • Typically we suggest Tuesday - Thursday between 9 am and no later than 4 pm
  • No bookins on any holiday

2. Once a date is agreed upon, provide the Chamber with event details, including:

  • The cause for celebration
  • A brief description (2-3 sentences) of the business and any event highlights such as refreshments, raffles, etc.

3. Think about your event logistics, including:

  • Where the ribbon cutting will take place
  • Parking arrangements
  • What you'd like to say during your remarks

4. Invite as many people as you can.

  • Reach out to family, friends, clients, and other personal contacts who have supported your business endeavor

Tips for Success:

TIP 1: Avoid scheduling overlap over any significant regional events. The Chamber can help you choose the best available date.

TIP 2: Consider offering samples of your product or service to turn guests into clients. Also, a free drawing is a great way to collect contact information while rewarding attendees for coming.

TIP 3: Most ribbon cutting ceremonies include free light refreshments, especially when held during or surrounding a typical meal time.

TIP 4: Consider advertising. While not necessary, the Chamber has a variety of low-cost options, and can connect you with our member newspapers, radio stations, and more.

TIP 5: Invite everyone you know! Reach far and wide with your invitations.

TIP 6: Enjoy the event! Connect with guests and introduce them to your business.

After the Ribbon Cutting:

Continue to be active in the Chamber and promote your business! We have a wide variety of networking and educational events, and many low-cost advertising avenues.
